John K. Itri, 47, of Marple Township, a Director of Audit for SmithKline Beecham, died Dec. 22 at home.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a 1970 graduate of Yeadon High School and a graduate of Drexel University. While attending the university, he played baseball and competed in the Delco Semi-pro baseball league.
A Certified Public Accountant, he worked for SmithKline since 1981. As a member of the audit department, he traveled extensively around the world.
Mr. Itri served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Japan Okayama Mission from 1978 to 1980.
A devout Mormon, he served as bishop of the Broomall 1st Ward for six years. He later served in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Stake Presidency with responsibilities in over 10 congregations in the Philadelphia area.
He was a coach in the Broomall-Newtown Babe Ruth League.
Survivors: Wife of 19 years, Jill Harris Itri sons, Joseph Dee Itri, Jonathan Jason Itri, James Itri, all at home daughters, Julia Itri, Jennifer Itri, both at home brother, Nick Itri of Marple sister, Cathy Lloyd of Allen, Texas.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 721 Paxon Hollow Road, Marple.
