Nellie Jane Baney May 7, 1921 - April 4, 2011 On April 4, 2011, Jane reached the outstretched arms of our Lord and Savior. Born May 7, 1921, to the late Reuben and Mabel Peterson Behrer, Jane grew up working on the family farm and graduated from the Warriors Mark-Franklin school system in 1940. She then attended Juniata College where she graduated in 1944 with a degree in Home Economics Education. Her first teaching job was at Dwight Mission, a Presbyterian owned school for the Cherokee reservation in Okla. She made many lifelong friendships from this experience. On July 22, 1948, Jane married James Baney, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2009. They began their married life in Weston, Ore. where Jane also taught and designed the home economics department. In 1958, they moved back to Pa. where Jane wore many "hats". From tax collector to bible school teacher to Sunday school teacher and most of all mother of three. Jane treasured her church family. She held many offices within the church and Presbyterian Church Women's organization. Jane is the last of her generation and was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred and John Behrer. Surviving are her three children, Grady (Amy) Baney, of Warriors Mark, Mary (Richard) Barth, of Elizabethtown, and Vida (Chuck) Wheeland, of Pennsylvania Furnace. Jane also is the proud grandmother of five, Sgt. First Class Derek (Sarah) Baney, of Texas, Jared (Nicole) Baney, of Tipton, Erin Baney, of Arlington Va., Nicole Barth, of Easton Md., and Rev. James (Larissa) Barth, of Browning Mont.; and great-grandmother of two, Domanic and Paige Baney. Jane's love of family, friends and country were unmistakable. She had donated eight gallons in her lifetime and her fresh homemade rolls were famous throughout the valley. Her smile would brighten up any room and now she will be one of heaven's brightest stars. We love you very much Mom.
