Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 31, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bennie Smith. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Liberty. Mr. Hornaday will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service.
A native of Randolph County, he was the son of the late Lewis Soloman Hornaday, Sr. and Mary Shoffner Hornaday and the husband of Beatrice Burton Hornaday who survives.
Mr. Hornaday was of the Quaker faith, retired from AT &T with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and designing/programming computers. He was an Army veteran of World War II, European Theater.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Burton Hornaday of the home; brother, Joseph "Joe" S. Hornaday of Liberty; and a nephew, Kevin Hornaday of Franklinton, N. C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Tom and Charles Hornaday.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
