Graveside services for Mrs. Carson, a Nevada City resident, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.
She was born March 27, 1921 in Hermosa Beach, to Russell and Fay Love. She attended school in Kern and Shasta counties. She married Lloyd Carson in 1953.
She went to work for Nevada County on Apr1, 1958, where she began as an Account Clerk II in the Treasurer's Office. She was initially appointed tax collector and treasurer on Oct 25, 1966. She was re-elected to that office, serving as tax collector and treasurer for 16 years, retiring on Dec. 30, 1982.
She was a member of the Soroptimist Club, Nevada County Legal Secretaries, the California Association of Elected Officials, the National Association of County Officials, and the State Association of County and Tax Collectors. She was also a member of the Pink Ladies of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, and the Retired Public Employees Association. She enjoyed traveling, needle point work, and her dogs.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, of Grass Valley; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, of Folsom; a sister and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Fay, father, Russell Sr, brother, Russell Jr, and husband, Lloyd Carson.
