William K Baker was a member of the Baha'i Faith and the son of the Hand of the Cause of God, Dorothy Baker. Bill pioneered with family members to Peru in 1968, then relocated in 1974 to Bolivia--his home for close to five decades. The Universal House of Justice wrote: "His many years of devoted service to the Cause of God, including as a member of the National Spiritual Assembly of Peru, Bolivia's National Assembly, and the Auxiliary Board for Propagation in Bolivia, are recalled with admiration." Bill founded the Dorothy Baker Environmental Studies Center in Cochabamba, which supports agricultural sustainability in Indigenous communities. In earlier years in the Chicago area, he served on committees supporting Baha'i House of Worship activities and was elected several times as a National Convention delegate.
