Margaret Kay Holland Carrington Thrasher, 85 of Cookeville died Sunday August 14, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 9, 1936 in the Atpontley community near Dunlap,Tennessee in the home of her parents, Herbert and Myrtle Holland. She married Foy Brodie Carrington 1957 in Detroit, Michigan and they had three children. She was preceded in death by both Foy (1992) and her second husband Dewey Young Thrasher, who died in 2021.

Kay served as co-chairman of the March of Dimes during the late 1960s and actively campaigned for the organization for many years. She worked for Fleetguard/Cummins in international customer service for over 20 years. Kay was a faithful member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ since 1965. She was a great gardener with a good sense of humor appreciated by many friends and neighbors. Kay devoted many hours visiting the elderly and shut-in community.

Kay was known by all for her smile, laugh, and determination to see positivity. Class, taste, positivity, warmth, a helpful and willing spirit, and devotion to the Lord are all common themes remembered by those around her. She loved as hard as she laughed and everyone who knows her will appreciate her impact and she will live on in every heart she touched.

Her family includes a son: Curtis Foy Carrington (Kelli Augenstein Carrington); daughters: Crystal Amirkhanian (Henry Amirkhanian) and Candy Bertini (Steve Bertini); grandchildren: Ashley Amirkhanian, Maxwell Bertini, Casey Bertini, Conor Carrington, Claire Carrington and Colin Carrington.

Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Collier Cemetery in Bledsoe County, Tennessee with Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating.
