With profound sadness, we announce that Abner Ott Lingle, 86, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2022, at his home of 63 years. Born February 11, 1936, in Piketown, Abner was the son of the late Jacob L. Lingle and Susan K. (Gingrich). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son and daughter, Duane Michael and Paula Kay, as well as siblings Donald, Lawrence, Jacob, Jane, Ruth and Donna.

Abner is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joann L. Lingle (Nissley); son Thomas A. Lingle and wife Cindy of Middletown; daughters Sandra Lingle Steinke and husband Michael of Wellsville and Lori Kay Eckenrode and husband John of Marysville; Abner was a loving grandfather of four and great grandfather of seven. Also surviving is longtime-friend, Chick Norbeck of Duncannon.

Abner was a 12-year veteran of the National Guard as a member of the 104th Armored Cavalry of Harrisburg. He was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed hunting with his son, Tom. Abner enjoyed bluegrass music and antique cars and was a member of various organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Antique Automobile Club of America, Hershey Region and HACC Deep Water Aerobics. Known for his quick wit and easy-going nature, Abner was loved by many. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed.

Please join us in celebrating his life on August 17, 2022, at 11AM in the Hoover Funeral home of Hershey, with a viewing beginning at 10AM. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to Hospice of Central PA.
