Evelyn was born in Ottumwa, Iowa (per her marriage record and the death certificates of her two sons who died in infancy.) Her father was Mahlon E. Jessop and her mother was Alice M. Marshall.

She married Chester Galbraith, Sr. in Burlington, Iowa on 20 October 1928. Together they had 5 sons:
Chester Galbraith, Sr. (1929 - )
Lowell Laverne Galbraith (1930 - 2011)
Robert Alan Galbraith (1933 - 1994)
Phillip Leroy Galbraith (1935 - 1935)
and
Baby Boy Galbraith (1936 - 1936) According to his death certificate he did not have a given name.

Evelyn was a housewife all her married life and always kept a spotless home. She was a devout Christian woman and lived a godly life. She was soft spoken and always so kind to others. She would make delicious meals and take them to the homes of those in her Baptist church family if someone was sick or grieving. She was a woman who put others before herself.

I knew her well. She was my step-grandmother. I first met her in the 1960s and knew her until she died. I always felt blessed to be around her. I eventually married and moved out of state, but when I was in Arkansas I always made a point to visit her. I remember our last time together. She was in the hospital just weeks before she died and we had a nice visit. I remember I read Psalm 23 to her and she really liked that. I'll never forget this dear woman and I'm glad she was in my life.
