Jose Jimenez Ferralez, age 71, went to be with our Lord on December 6, 2014. He was surrounded by friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Manuela Jimenez Ferralez, and father, Claro Ferralez, and common law wife, Corrine Zorgdrager.
Jose Ferralez was born in Laredo, TX, the oldest of four children. His family moved to Maxwell, Texas, where he started school. His mom passed away when he was a child so he moved Vernon, Texas, where he spent most of his childhood. In 1967, while working at a meat packing plant, he met and married Maria Se Fuentes (Woodward) and they had two sons; Joe born in April of 1968 and Bobby born in June of 1969. The family lived in Del Rio, Vernon, Waco, and Wichita Falls. During this time, he worked as a truck driver, in a manufacturing plant, and in construction. After he and Maria divorced, he met Corrine Zorgdrager and the two of them moved in together. They moved to Austin in 1991 and he began working for Palm Harbor Homes and eventually retired from there in 2013. During this time, his granddaughters were born; Kyrah was born on April 9, 1990, and Angel was born on May 15, 2002. Through his common law marriage to Corrinne, he became a step-father to two daughters, Lonnie Smithback and Michelle Swedeland, and one son, Ray Moet. He remained with Corrine until her death in January of 2014. After her death, Jose began spending time with Juanita Tobias. Juanita was with him when he passed away. In his later years, Mr. Ferralez spent much time at the VFW Hall in Austin, Texas, and obtained many friends who will miss him.
Jose loved children and enjoyed spending time with family, extended family, and friends. He was always happy to attend weddings, graduations, birthday parties, quinceras, and other special events. He was always
