Mabel Aurdal "Mibs" Nalder, 83, of Mill Creek and a former resident of Grant County, died Sunday, April 30, 1995, at her home.

She was born May 6, 1911, to Jens Peter and Ingeborg (Blindheim) Aurdal at Spokane, where she was raised and attended school. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School then worked as a legal secretary for several years.

She married Philip Nalder on April 13, 1935. She joined him at Grand Coulee Dam in 1936. They lived in Silver Spring, Md., between 1946 and 1948, then moved back to Coulee Dam. They lived at Ephrata from 1950 to 1960, where Mrs. Nalder served on the hospital board, the Community Concert Association, the League of Women Voters and was president of the local President's Council.

She and her husband moved to Afghanistan in 1960, where he served with the U.S. Agency for International Development. Among Mrs. Nalder's projects was assisting a women's club develop a product, dolls, which were sold in other countries to raise funds. She had entertained Adlai Stevenson and Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia.

Mr. and Mrs. Nalder also traveled to Zambia, Thailand and Algeria. Mrs. Nalder contributed to the magazine Sawaddi in Thailand. They returned to the United States in 1973 and lived briefly in Seattle then moved to Mill Creek. Mrs. Nalder worked with the Mill Creek Garden Club and the Suburbanite's Club.

She is survived by her husband of Mill Creek; a son, Eric, of Seattle; two daughters, Nan Nalder-Griffith of Seattle, and Susan of Santa Fe, N.M.; and two grandchildren.
