Mrs. Mary E. Burket of Euphemia succumbed to the ravages of Bright's disease, attended by uraemic poisoning, last Thursday morning about 9 o'clock. Although in failing health for a number of years, her condition was not considered critical until quite recently. She was 74 years, 3 months and 2 days of age and was born, reared and lived her entire life in Preble County. Her maiden name was Kirkland, being an aunt of J.W. Kirkland of Euphemia.

She was married twice, her first husband being Daniel Burket (m. 11 Oct 1861) and the second Jonathan Sheffer (m. 23 Nov 1876). To the first marriage seven children were born and to the second, three.

For a number of years she has resided in or near Euphemia with her son, Samuel Sheffer. A number of years ago, her first husband was killed by falling a distance of about 85 feet from a bee tree near West Sonora.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were her sons, Wm. Burket of New Haven, Ind. and Jno. Burket of Balbec, Ind., Mrs Woodring, son and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Chas Davis of Eaton.
