If you knew Robin in the late 70's, 80's, 90's, you knew me. It is with great sadness that I write this. Robin passed away in the hospital in Mission Viejo. With his passing we mourn the loss of an exceptionally talented, intelligent and truly gifted soul.

Robin was born in 1953 in NH, the son of Ralph (Sonny) Rowell, Clair Wheeler and Bob Carr. Dividing his time in between Hampton Beach and Southern CA for many years he was well known in the East and West surfing community.

Working many years as the Director of Environmental Services at Mission Hospital he developed many dear lifelong friends.

Outside of work Robin was a passionate, skilled surfer. He loved to sail and participated in many regattas along the So. Cal. coast. He was also an avid guitar player, golfer, skier, fast pitch baseball and softball player. He was creative as demonstrated in his paintings and writing. He loved sports and connecting with people. He formed close friendships in every facet of his life with his quick wit and infectious laugh. He loved his cats and the Phillippe pups.

He is survived by his sister Lesley and her husband Greg, their daughter Drew Phillippe-Morrison and her husband Brandon, his nephews Jason Howard, Corey Howard and his wife Carola along with their two sons Rylan and Hendrix, and his youngest nephew Kyle who, yes I agree with you Ralph, looks just like him, cousin Karen Bitomski Senft. He is also survived by many friends mentioned earlier by Ralph. In addition there was the Ca. crowd - Michael, Ron, Rich, Mike C., Kinzer, Gary D., Springs, George H, Craig, Bentley, Artie, and Hermann. If I forgot your name, know that he did not.

He is pre-deceased by his beautiful sister, Wendy Howard (and passed on her birthday just so he could be there for her party), Cousins Todd Ross, Mark Bitomski, his Mother Clair Carr, Fathers Sonny Rowell and Bob Carr, Uncle Ted Bitomski, and dear friends Dewey Maryhew, Bob Sieloff, Harold and artists Pat Tobin and Michael Logan. All of whom cherished him.

He taught me what a bagel was, how to eat a lobster and how good clams were. We are ALL grateful for the surf, ski, sailing trips on the East Coast, West Coast, Baja, Mexico, Bahamas and Hawaii.

There was a Surfer's Paddle/celebration on August 19th 2022 at 6pm at RYE ON THE ROCKS, Rye, NH. There will also be a private burial at sea for Robin in Dana Point, Ca. with friends and family in September.
