Darleen J. Doig, age 93, of Townsend, passed away August 6, 2022 at her home in Townsend.

To all that know her, I'm sure she has made a great impression on you. To those who don't know her, you missed knowing an intelligent, spunky, hardworking, kindhearted, fun loving, generous, tough as nails woman, who was a whiz at playing pinochle and bridge. Her compassion was unmeasured, as many in the community have experienced.

Darleen Joyce Tintinger Doig was born on April 21, 1929. To Leelian and May Tintinger (Both deceased).

Mom was never one to turn down a challenge, ranging from fighting mosquitoes ( boy… do I miss that part) , long time member of Broadwater Hospital board, many years on the Rodeo board, and her number 1 was taking care of son Kenneth after his accident, which she did until she could no longer lift him.

She spent over 30 years working for the phone company with another challenge coming when the company closed the Helena office and was forcing people to take early retirement or move.

Mom chose to move to Billings to work and traveled the 200 miles to Townsend on weekends to visit her husband Walter Ray Doig (deceased 1992). Ray and Darleen were married Oct. 5, 1947.

Mom liked to tell the story that on one of their first anniversaries, she asked Dad if he knew what today was? My Dad (being the romantic he was) answered " yep !! It's the first day of duck season!"

Mom was one of 9 children, all of who have left us except Myrna Tintinger Clark and Grace Tintinger Gilmore both of Townsend. Mom did wonderful job raising her 3 children Donna Doig Harper, Dorothy Doig Jones and Kenneth Ray Doig. She instilled in us working values and the value of a dollar. Being a Townsend telephone operator, she was able to keep track of us (party lines) and all we had to do was pick up the receiver and we got mom on the other end.

Her grandchildren, Carrie Harper, Terri Harper, Bryan Jones, Bree Jones Lang, Kimberly Harper (Deceased) and Bradley Jones (Deceased) all respected her abilities to solve problems and received her loving gestures through humor, teasing and big hugs.

Mom lived a full life and was able to see her great grandchildren grow up into fine young adults.

Zachari Wilhelm, Dayna Wilhelm Benson, Quinn Harper, Tysen Giomi, Tava Giomi, Trace Giomi, Mike Frye, Ewan Jones, Gavin Jones and Dakota Hering (deceased) have all been so blessed to know their Great Grandma and experience her life wisdom and knowledge.

Mom loved her Church family and she always looked forward to Sunday church worship, greeting her friends and going to breakfast. Morning coffee with Mom at the Mint with her Sister Myrna was always a learning experience!! She knew so many people and because of our Mom, my sister and I now have many of her friends in our lives.

Thank You Mom, We started missing you when you took your last breath Aug. 6, 2022. 11:44 p.m. We Cracked your bedroom window so your spirit could FLY! Give lots of heavenly love to Dad, Bradley, Ken, Kimberly, and Dakota!! LOVE YOU FOREVER MOM!!

Donna, Dorothy and all your family who are gathered to celebrate Our Mom! A huge thank you to Sandy Kay Briggs and son Cy for loving and taking such good care of Mom!
