Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lee O'Byrne, 91, Windsor Dr., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridout's Valley Chapel, with Dr. U. S. Pitts and the Rev. Stanley Clark officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. O'Byrne, a member of a pioneer Fairview family, died Thursday at a local hospital. Her father, Judge Andrew L. McWilliams, gave the Fairview section its name.
She was the widow of Thomas T. O'Byrne.
Mrs. O'Byrne was the oldest living alumna of Athens College, having been graduated in 1891, and was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She was the first president of the Fairview PTA, and under her leadership the school began serving hot lunches and later built its first lunchroom.
Survivors include four sons, M. J. O'Byrne of Jasper, T. L. O'Byrne and R. J. O'Byrne, both of Birmingham, and T. F. O'Byrne of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Mrs. R. W. Carter and Mrs M. A. Faherty, both of Birmingham; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
