SOUTH BEND - Ruth (Fishman) Aichele, 93, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, in Coventry Meadows LLC, Fort Wayne. She was born in South Bend, IN, and was a homemaker. She graduated from South Bend High School in 1931. She was a member of Congregation Achduth Vesholom, Fort Wayne, and was a past president of B'nai B'rith. She enjoyed cooking, needlepoint and playing bridge.
Survivors include her step-son, Fredric (Sally) Aichele of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Jennifer (James) Vana of Edmonds, WA; grandsons, F. Jon (Keri) Aichele Jr. of St. Augustine, FL, Eric T. Aichele of Chicago, IL; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Leah Fishman; husband, John T. Aichele on March 22, 2003; a stepson, William H. Aichele on January 28, 2003; three brothers and four sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Rabbi Marla Joy Subeck Spanjer and Rabbi Jonathon Katz officiating. Calling will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Community Harvest Food Bank, Fort Wayne, or to Congregation Achduth Vesholom.
