CLARION — Service for Elva Weir, 90, is 2 p.m. Friday at Clarion Church of Christ. Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the church. Ewing Dugger Funeral Home in charge.

Life is changed...not taken away.
Elva A. Weir, 90, of Clarion passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at her home in Clarion.
Elva Adelia Weir, the daughter of Elmer Ellsworth Ward and Nettie Pearl Ford, was born January 26, 1918 in Lehigh, Iowa.
Elva was united in marriage to Frank B. Weir on April 27, 1935 in Webster City, Iowa. This union was blessed with 6 children. Elva helped Frank on the farm by raising chickens, gardening, canning and taking care of the household and children.
Elva always wanted to continue her education so after Frank passed away she attended classes and received her GED in 1992. She was very proud of this accomplishment and so was the rest of her family.
Elva was a member of the Clarion Church of Christ where she attended services as often as she could. She was active with Sunday school in both attendance and teaching.
Elva had a great sense of humor and loved wearing her collection of 110 pair of decorative novelty socks. She had a pair for every holiday, season and any other occasion one might imagine. She had just received a pair of happy birthday socks the day before, so she was buried in them.
The minister read a nice story written by her granddaughter Ami.
Elva also loved playing cards and games at the Clarion Senior Citizen Center and with her family. She enjoyed spending as much time with her family as she could. Elva also enjoyed going out to eat, embroidery and reading.
Elva is survived by her 5 children: Juanita (Leroy) Watts of Clarion; Genevieve (Jerry) Hoesel of Grand Junction, Colorado; Jean (Jerome) Smith of Morganton, North Carolina, Rosemary (Craig) Courtney of Waterloo and Frank B. Weir, Jr. of Killeen, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Delnita Sturtz, Lynnda Purcell, Renee Bisbey, Peggy Watts, Wayne Watts, Les Watts, Mark Hoesel, Darin Hoesel, Ami Senft and Jeremy McVicker; 19 great grand-children; and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank on March 31, 1991; infant son, Glen Franklin; great-grandson, Eric Watts; brother, Walter at the age of 12; and sister, Zola Kinseth.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clarion Church of Christ, Clarion Senor Citizen Center, Clarion Public Library and/or the donor's favorite charity.

We deeply appreciate the tribute accorded our loved one by your presence here today. The family of Elva Weir.
