Beulah Deckard Bourke, age 89, of Bloomington, died Monday morning at her residence in Monroe House Assisted Living Center. Born August 5, 1918, in Bradfordsville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of General Harrison and Mary Elizabeth (Mason) Black. She retired from Cook Inc. in 1995 when she was 77 years old. She formerly had owned and operated along with her late husband, George H. Deckard, Deckard's Grocery Stores, Deckard's Custard Dip Restaurant and later Deckard's Laundromat, all in Bloomington. She was a member of Eastern Star and Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mayor Phil R. and Glenda Deckard, of Martinsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Irene Deckard Arnett and Richard Arnett, of Bloomington; two stepdaughters, Barbara Bourke Cox of Jensen Beach, Florida, and Karen Bourke Montesano of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Philicia Deckard, Tonya Deckard, Phillip Deckard II, Renata Arthur, Jeffrey Arnett and Brian Arnett; seven step-grandchildren, Michael Cox, Edward Cox, Tony Cox, Jessica Montesano, Robyn Montesano, Rachel Montesano and Jamie Montesano; thirteen great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, George H. Deckard; second husband, Robert Bourke; one son, Arthur Edward Deckard; one great-grandson, Brian Arnett, Jr.; four sisters, Lula Epperson, Ruby Pritchard, Clara Linthicum, and Gladys Blazek; and two brothers, Colonel Charles A. Black and Fred Black.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Day Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Wigington officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m., where an Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., and on Thursday, one hour prior to the funeral service.
