Brent was born in St. Francis, KS on July 25, 1969, he was the son of the late Lloyd Thomas Newman and Miriam Jean Atkerson Newman. He was a 1987 graduate of Albuquerque High School in New Mexico and then went on to graduate from Bryson University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management.
Brent had a passion for coaching basketball, along with having an interest in all sports. He was the owner of Patriots Bold BBQ Sauce in Charleston, SC. He loved the ocean and Smith Mountain Lake, where he enjoyed boating, fishing and cooking out. He especially enjoyed cooking out for his many friends.
Brent was a combat veteran in the United States Marine Corps, serving several tours in the Middle East. He was especially proud of his Marine Corps heritage and recently made a trip to Quantico, VA, where he will eventually be laid to rest. He was also an avid animal lover, and always had a Marine Corps Mascot by his side.
Known for being warm-hearted and friendly, Brent never met a stranger, and will missed by all that knew him.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Lance Newman.
Survivors include, his girlfriend, Kim Sakellaris of the residence; his best friends, Carl Baisden (Lori) and Mike Whitley, both of Roanoke, VA; his brothers from the 2nd Battalion 4th Marines; his friends from the Warriors Heart and Smith Mountain Lake; many coaches and young men that he helped place in colleges; and his special fur babies, Keke and Romey.
A memorial graveside service will be conducted on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at Quantico National Cemetery with Mr. Carl Baisden officiating the service. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps.
