Kathy was born to Edward Marvin Schuetz and Patricia Althea Lambert, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest of six children. She was married to Herb Battern in San Diego, California, on 31 March 1967, with whom she had two sons, Dan and Jason. Following her divorce from Herb in May 1973, Kathy married David P. Hankins, of Durham, North Carolina and later, Naples, Florida. Kathy was preceded in death by her brother Mark Peter Schuetz (1953-1975) and James Marvin Schuetz (1954-2008). She is survived by her sisters, Pam and Barb, and brother Ed.
