George Alan Lipscomb, Sr., 89, of Aurora, WV, passed away on July 29, 2022. Born on July 25, 1933, in Aurora, he was the son of George Rodney and Beulah Isabelle (Elsey) Lipscomb.

George graduated from Aurora High School in 1951, and went on to college at WVU where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture in 1955 and completed his Master's Degree in Business Administration. He taught Vo-Ag and Industrial Arts at Southern High School in Oakland, MD until 1960 and also taught Vo-Ag and Industrial Arts at Aurora High School from 1960-1963. In 1971, he became the director of the Vocation Education for Preston County. He was passionate about traveling across the United States and Internationally with his wife. He loved fishing and taking trips out west to hunt. He was a life member of the Mountain Lions Club, the Aurora United Methodist Church, a member of the Rowlesburg Masonic Lodge #165, and a founding member of the Aurora VFD.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen Ardith (Harsh) Lipscomb; three sons, George Alan Lipscomb Jr. and wife Barbara of Aurora, Gary Bryan Lipscomb and wife Susan of Oak Hill, WV, Jeffrey Wayne Lipscomb and wife Pamela of Aurora; one daughter, Robin Louise Chambers and husband J.B. of Aurora; nine grandchildren, Lori Pennington and husband Terry of Mt. Storm, WV, Kelli Lipscomb of Frostburg, MD, Jared Lipscomb and wife Stephanie of Huntington, WV, Travis Lipscomb and fiance Jayna of Morgantown, WV, Jonathan Chambers of Clarksburg, WV, Derek Chambers and companion Hannah of Hagerstown, MD, Samantha Chambers of Winchester, VA, Aron Lipscomb and wife Haylee of Oakland, MD and Trevor Lipscomb and fiance Alyssa of Aurora; twelve great-grandchildren, Lily, Caleb, Luke, Adelaine Pennington, Brittany and Alyssa Thomas, Ebony and Marcus Thomas, Omari Holden, Carter and Kamden Lipscomb, and Gavin Chambers; a brother in law, Dr. William Hall of Morgantown, WV; two nephews, Dr. David Hall and wife Dr. Mary Hall, Ed Hall and wife Tiffany all of Morgantown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mariyln Jean Lipscomb and Patsy Ann Hall; and one granddaughter, Rhianna Michelle Lipscomb.

Friends will be received at the Aurora Memorial Building on Wednesday August 3, 2022, from 3 to 7 PM, 24079 George Washington Highway Aurora, WV 26705 and at the Aurora United Methodist Church on Thursday August 4, 2022, at 10 AM followed by the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Cheryl George officiating. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for Aurora United Methodist Church, Union Ambulance, and the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department.
