Betty Jean (Raper) Hunt, a resident of Pasadena, TX for over sixty years passed away peacefully at her home in Pasadena, TX, Saturday, July 30th, 2022, at 10:30 PM. Betty was fortunate to have her family by her side as she passed.

Betty was born in Celeste, TX on September 18, 1935, to the late Teddie Raper and Sarah Bernice (Compton) Raper. She married her high school sweetheart J.R. Hunt on May 25, 1953. J.R. and Betty were married just over sixty years when J.R. passed in 2013.

Together they raised two sons. Ronald Lee and wife Jackie of Houston; Jay Lynn and wife Kimberly of Pasadena. Both having blended families, Betty loved All equally with all her huge heart. They shared nine grandchildren, Michael Leitner and wife Amy, Ron (Bear) Hunt, Sandra Tyburczyk and fiancé Eduardo Amaya, Albert Lott and wife Heidi, Jennifer Scott and husband Wayne, Jason Hunt, Jarod Hunt and wife Rachel, Hannah Baldwin and husband Cody, and Edwin Twitty and wife Michelle. With these nine grandchildren, come twenty-two great-grandchildren whom she loved to spoil as well. Betty also had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she loved.

Betty is survived by her two sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law of Tyler, TX, Betty Ann Hunt. She is preceded in death by her parents, Teddie, and Bernice Raper; infant brother Teddie Raper Jr., sister Velda Hunter; brother-in-law Travis Hunt; and her precious granddaughter Miranda Shay Twitty, and loving grandson, Casey Lynn Leitner.

Betty was a bright multifaceted diamond. Her life cannot be defined by one moment in time. As a young girl growing up in Celeste, she was an athlete, who excelled at basketball, softball, and track. Betty was elected as the Celeste high school varsity football sweetheart and was the sweetheart of the Varsity Team Captain, J.R. Hunt.

After first moving to Dallas, and then to Wichita Falls, TX, Betty and J.R. moved their home to Houston/Pasadena in 1957 to begin raising two rowdy little boys. After a time of working various places, Betty became an instrumental partner to J.R. in the family business, Kapital Kampers, Inc. Betty and J.R. traveled the world and enjoyed camping with their families and traveling with their grandchildren.

Betty was incredibly involved and instrumental with the early beginnings of the Greater Houston Recreational Vehicle Association, along with its parent organization, Texas Recreational Vehicle Association Betty served on many committees and held every office in both Associations. Being way ahead of her time, she was the first woman to serve as Vice President and President over an extended period. Betty was awarded many plaques, trophies, and Crystal awards for years of service to both the GHRVA and the TRVA. She was a lifetime member of both associations and enjoyed in promoting the industry that her and J.R. worked so hard in.

Betty was a member of Watters Road Church of Christ where she loved going and spending time with church family and friends.

Beyond all the accolades of Betty's life, her greatest joy and love, was her family.
