Betty Ruth Shumate, 90 years, 2 months, 9 days old, passed peacefully to Heaven on July 28, 2022, at her home with all her children by her side.
Ruth was born May 19, 1932, in Ava, MO to Benjamin Franklin and Ethel (Cox) Denney.
On October 23, 1950, Ruth and Lloyd Junior Shumate were united in marriage at Mountain Home, AR and together they were blessed with five children.
Ruth was a Christian and a member of the Mt. Tabor Church.
She enjoyed cooking, canning, and gardening. Ruth never met a stranger. Her kindness and smile were infectious. She adored her family as they did her.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Junior in 2013; three brothers, Lonnie, Ben, and Sherman Denney; two sisters, Anna Lee Cornelison and Ruby Graham; a grandson, Mark Anthony Shumate; a granddaughter, Angela Michelle Evans; two great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Lou Dering.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Larry & Martha Shumate, Gary & Vicki Shumate, Dennis & Sandy Shumate, Theresa & Wiley Belt, and Mary Dering; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Loetta Kelly; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many friends.
She loved and was loved by all that knew her. She left this world to go to her Heavenly home to spend eternity with loved ones gone on and Jesus her Savior!
Funeral services for Ruth will be Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO
Burial following in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The visitation will be Monday, August 1 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Clinkingbeards. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond Haden. Family requests memorials to be made to Mt. Tabor Cemetery or Gideon's.
