Simon P. Dennis, age 89, of Leitchfield, died Monday, January 21, 2008 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 23, 1918. He was retired from P. Lorillard in Louisville, and was a farmer. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Germany, France, Belgium, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He attended Hardin Springs Community Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pauline Miller Dennis of Leitchfield; two daughters, Lorna Givens of Leitchfield and Marcia (Doug) Milliner of Big Clifty, Ky.; two sons, Gary Dennis of Leitchfield and Sam (Marlene) Dennis of Taylorsville, Ky.; three sisters, Nora Fouch, Margie Miller and Catherine Clark. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Gina (David) Sims, David Bryan (Pam) Dennis, Karah Milliner and Gavin Milliner; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Holly and Joseph Sims and Keanu Dennis; two step-grandchildren, Meliah Mitchell and Greg Gulette; and one step-great-grandchild, Caitlyn Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sye Wesley and Ettie Lillian Drane Dennis; three sisters, Myrtle Miller, Ressie Dennis and Nellie Miller; three brothers, Arvie, Orval, and Ivan Dennis. Funeral services were held Friday, January 25, 2008 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Chapel with Bro. Randal Dennis officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
