Evelyn Marie LaVergne, 79, of Groves, Texas passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was born November 24, 1935 in Maurice, Louisiana to Andrus Arabie and Gertie Jean Hebert Arabie. Evelyn was a 60 year area resident and longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a retired custodian from Port Neches ISD. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, F. J. LaVergne, and her sister, Celia Arabie Domingue. Survivors include two daughters, Carla David and husband Doug of Portsmouth, VA, Connie Cathey of Groves, TX; one son, Clayton LaVergne and wife Angela of Groves, TX; two sisters, D'Ella Balfa of Lafayette, LA, Clara Pomier and husband Ronnie of Carencro, LA; three brothers, Stanley Arabie and wife Mary of Youngsville, LA, Johnny Arabie of New Iberia, LA, Willie Arabie of Lafayette, LA; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend J. C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
