Margaret graduated from Four Oaks High School and attended Campbell University. She then went on to work as a banker with Wachovia, and later to Bank of America. She became an Operation Officer, and when she retired after 27 years with Bank of America, Margaret was Vice President at the Operations Center. In addition, she was a member of the Red Hat Society; she served as a Bible teacher at nursing homes for 17 years, which was a great reward for her. She was a longtime member of Oakland Presbyterian Church for over 40 years, where she served in many capacities including Elder. Reading, going to the beach and mountains, and traveling to many places around the United States were some of the things she enjoyed most. Margaret had two wishes for her children and grandchildren, love God and trust in him, and love each other and take care of each other.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Wednesday, July 27th, at Oakland Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Oakland's cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at 3:00 PM, prior to the service at Oakland Presbyterian.
Margaret is survived by her children, daughters, Kelly Boyles and Karen Gower (Brian); sons, Richard H. Boyd, III (Tammy) and Chris Boyd (Yvette); 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Tart (Randolph); brother Freddie Honeycutt (Debbie); as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Richard H. Boyd, Jr. and brother, Dalton Honeycutt, Jr.
