He graduated from Hartford High School in Hartford Michigan and Western Michigan University. During his career, he worked for a division of General Motors in Ohio where he raised his family. After leaving General Motors, Steve organized his own company named, Martin Lee Construction, Louisville KY, building prisons, medical facilities, and other commercial properties. He retired in 2000.
His best loved hobby was golf. He could remise about courses and detail specific holes that he played years before. His favorite course was his home course, Fuzzy Zoeller's Covered Bridge Golf Course.
Steve is survived by his wife of 24 years, Darlene; children, Tina Batten (Tim); Jeffrey Austin (Nikki) two step-children, Jeremy Barnicott and Leanne Barnicott; six wonderful grandchildren; brother Rodney Austin (Connie); aunt, Norma Whiteman and cousin, Joanne Reed. His constant companions were his dogs, Roxey and Baylor whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Victor Todd Austin and sisters, Connie Warman and Kay Smith.
Visitation will take place on Friday, July 29th, 2022, 11am – 2pm with funeral service to follow at 2pm. Victor will be buried at North Shore Memorial Gardens in Coloma, Michigan on Friday, August 5th, 2022.
