Son of Virgil Austin and Florrie Roach Austin. He served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the DuPont Company and was a member of Abney Baptist Church of Kershaw, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Inez Hinson Austin; son, Earl Glenn Austin, Jr.; and three brothers, Bobby Austin, Ernest Austin and James Austin. Surviving are his son, Rev. Mitchell Dale Austin and his wife, Pat of Kershaw, SC; five grandchildren, Mark Hunter (Shari), Laura Austin (Rafael), Chris Austin, Danielle Brown (Joseph), and Kyle Austin; nine great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Debbie Austin of Kershaw, SC; two brothers, J V Austin and Richard Austin; and sister, Louise A Catledge - all of Kershaw.
