Charles Alessio Sr was born on April 27, 1890 in Joelton, Davidson County, Tennessee, the son of Frank Allessio (1858–1920) and Annie Alice (Caligaro) Alessio (1865–1958).

He was married on January 27, 1914 to Lucille Roe Stevens (1892–1959), the daughter of Ernest Stevens and Blanche (Hill) Stevens.

Living in Nashville, Davidson County, Charles was 80 years old and a widower when he died at a local hospital on September 20, 1970.

Survivors included daughters Mrs Martha Helen Peura in Poughkeepsy, New York and Mrs Annie Mosier of Nashville, sister Mrs Agnes A Gostine, brothers A F Alessio, W A Alessio and A G Alessio, all in Nashville, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on September 23rd at Saint Edwards Church, and burial was in Woodlawn memorial Park, Nashville, with Honorary Pallbearers who included - but were not limited to - members of Pipefitters Local 572 and employees of A H Mechanical Contractors.
