Linda Gail Shimanek, age 81, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on July 18, 2022, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was born on August 13, 1940 in Covington, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Glen and Edith (Christman) Avery. She graduated in 1958 from Covington High School in Covington, Oklahoma. Linda met the love of her life, Bernie Shimanek, of 36 years. They were united in marriage on April 3, 1986 at the St. Frances Catholic Church. Linda had eight children she cherished deeply.

Linda was a very dedicated hard working person that would do whatever it took to get the job done. She was the driving force for when Bernie ran for county commissioner of Garfield County. Linda was the manager of the convenience store in Covington, she later worked as a custodian for the Covington and Enid public schools. While working she enjoyed getting to know and meeting all walks of life. Linda was known as a good singer who would sing on the radio from time to time. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family every chance she got. For all 20 of her grandchildren she had a song for each one of them. Some of her hobbies were reading, and dancing.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Eldon Avery, Dennis Avery; and son-in-law Chuck Mangion.
