She was a native of Fredericksburg, Texas, and she lived in Cushing for 71
years. She was a graduate of Jewett (Texas) High School. She was an alumna of
Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and she earned her teacher
certificate from Grubbs Vocational College in Arlington, Texas. She was a
schoolteacher and a piano teacher. She was a Girl Scout leader and a PTA
officer. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Order of the Eastern
Star.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cushing. She was the
church organist and pianist. She was a Sunday school teacher. She was a
Methodist youth group leader. She was a member of United Methodist Women and
was an officer of the Women's Society of Church Services.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Womack of Lake Charles and Jeannine
St. Peter of Beaumont, Texas; six grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Cushing First United Methodist Church or to
the Stephen F. Austin University music department, the family said.
