She was the eldest sibling born to the late Ruth and Blair Garlick on May 8, 1926. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Glen and Jerry Garlick, and sister-in-law, Joan.
After graduating from high school, Jean married her high school sweetheart, the late Guy Trueax, on Feb. 10, 1944, who passed away on Jan. 30, 2002. Together they raised their family on a dairy farm in Fulton County, Pa. Together, they had 7 children: Diane (Forrest) Bard, Charlotte Downey (Roger Cooley), Duane (Patty) Trueax, Stuart (Cheryl) Trueax, Roy (Karen) Trueax, Perry Trueax, and Sherry Johnson; 14 grandchildren: Colleen (Colin) Duggan, Alana (Joseph) Archangelo, Danielle (Gary) White, Marlana (Fran) Perno, Ryan Cooley, Ronda Sigel, Tonya (Kraig) Hurley, Whittney (Nate) Gould, Brian (Traci) Trueax, Kerry Jacobs, Adrienne (Corey) South, Brett (Mike) Trueax, Tanner Trueax, and Dawn (Clint) Snyder; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Jean loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren and their children. She had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. She was a skilled painter, seamstress, and quilter and each grandchild was the recipient of a handmade quilt upon their graduation from high school. She loved African violets and filled her home with beautiful blooming plants.
In addition to being a farm wife and raising a large family, she worked as a waitress in Breezewood at the Wildwood Inn and Snyder's Gateway Inn for many years. After retirement, she worked at JC Pennys in Ft. Pierce, Florida, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for more than 20 years.
A special thank you to the nursing staff at Regency Hospice, McCloud Hospital and Riverview Senior Living for taking such loving care of Jean, and Burroughs Funeral Home.
A celebration of life memorial was held on March 30 at the Belin Methodist Church outdoor chapel in Murrells Inlet, S.C. A memorial service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. on June 3 at McKendree Methodist Church, Crystal Springs, Pa.
