JOSEPH C. RAMSEY - Monday - October 9, 1995

CHELAN - Joseph C. Ramsey, 86, of Chelan, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 1995, at Regency Manor Convalescent Center following an extended illness.
He was born May 7, 1909, at Gridley, Kan., to Joseph H. and Nettie (Jones) Ramsey. He moved with his family to several places including Garnett, Kan., where he attended school and graduated from Garnett High School.
He worked on Civilian Conservation Corps projects until moving to Chelan in 1936. He began working for the Great Northern Railroad in 1939. In 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and served in Bougainville, New Caledonia, the Marshall Islands and the Philippines during World War II.
After his discharge, he married Irby Lee Allen on Nov. 30, 1945, at Texarkana, Texas. They made their home in Chelan Falls, and Mr. Ramsey continued working for the railroad until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, at Regency Manor; two nephews, Dean Whitworth of Yakima and Ken Whitworth of East Wenatchee. He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
