Virginia Morton was born near Fremont, Mo., December 18, 1843, and died at her home near Burlington, Kansas, May 11, 1914, aged 70 years, 4 months and 22 days. She united with the Christian church when she was thirteen years old and continued strong in the faith to the end; and was glad and ready to go. She was married to Frank Walker January 4, 1866, and to them were born five children: three sons having preceded her to the better land, and is survived by her husband, two daughters and two grand-children.
Mother is gone but her deeds still live; and her life will be a help and inspiration to those she leaves behind.
The funeral was held Wednesday morning at the home in Oak Grove neighborhood and then the body was brought to Burlington for interment in the Mt. Hope cemetery. Rev. C. L. Hovgard, pastor of the Methodist church of Burlington was in charge of the services. The funeral was an unusually large one, friends coming from miles around to pay their tribute of respect.
Mrs. Walker was in poor health for some time, and could not get around much, but she had the confidence and esteem of a large circle of acquaintances. She was a woman of high Christian character.
