Benjamin was the son of Silas Morlan & Sarah Elizabeth Hunter, both buried in Cedar County, Missouri. He was the second of 14 children. Benjamin Franklin was born on August 1, 1845 in Parke Co., Indiana. He served in the Civil War. He was married to Harriet Pegg. They married in Centerville, Appanoose County, Iowa on January 4, 1866 and had 7 children. Lillie F., Rosa Bell, Carrie B., Nora Alvira, Charles Homer, George Silas and John Carl. Harriet died May 10, 1889 in Stockton, Missouri. Then he married the sister-in-law of a neighbor who was a widow, Susan Gasset. They moved to Kansas and he died in Chautauqua County, Kansas. Both he and Susan are buried in Cedar Vale Cemetery.
