Anchorage resident Tomasa Sabarillo Abud, 73, died of natural causes Feb. 24, 2004, at home. A visitation was at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. A Mass of Christian burial was at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Pallbearers included David Cannon, Bradley Carlson, Roy Martin, Steven Carroll, Roberto Abud and Julio Abud. Burial was at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ms. Abud was born Dec. 23, 1930, in the Philippines. A former resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, she moved to Alaska on June 30, 2003. She obtained a master's degree in management. Ms. Abud formerly worked as a dressmaker and in various other jobs. At the time of her death, she was a homemaker. Ms. Abud was a member of the Catholic Church. Her family wrote: "Tomasa gave her family and those who were around her the gift of laughter. Her best quality was her smile, which was infectious. She was independent and proud, and she loved without condition."
Survivors include her sons, Dominador Abud and his wife, Emerenciana, of the Philippines, Robert Hall of Anchorage, Tomas Hall and his wife, Cecilia, of Chandler, Ariz., and Victor Hall of San Francisco; brother, Damaso Abud of Anchorage; nieces and nephews, Julia Rohloff, Julio Abud, Mila Carlson and her husband, Bradley, Naomi Caroll and her husband Steve, and Roberto Abud, all of Anchorage; and grandchildren, Albert, Arlene, Fra-An, Tomas, Rolly, Gabrielle, Michah, Rochelle, David, Julia, Nicholas, Amber, Paul, Peter, Robert and Christopher. Arrangements were with Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
