Viola was born in Danville, Il. to Pike and Harriet A. (Henson) Sprague. She was the oldest of their children, although her mother had had two children from a previous marriage. Their family moved to Kansas in the 1860's, living first in Emporia, Lyon Co., then Deer Creek, Allen Co., KS. It was in Allen Co. that Viola met and married her first husband, George Washington Fisk. They were married on 4 Aug 1872 by Minister M.D. Gage of the First Baptist Church of Iola. She and George raised seven children together: Frank Bingham, Alba Clem, Carrie, Nellie, George Denison, Laura, and Harriet Lulu. Her first husband George passed away in July of 1906. Viola later remarried Wm. L. Faulkner. The couple moved to Greene, Jefferson Co., Iowa, where Viola help her new husband manage the county work farm. When Viola passed away, her children had her remains sent back to Iola, so she could be buried next to their father.****************************
