She was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Vernon, Texas, the daughter of Alva Fenton and Cornelia Rainwater Gaston.
She was married to William "Bill" Colfax Pirkle Jr., in June 1945. She attended Mt. Gilead Methodist Church and was a member of the women's auxiliary of the American Legion Post No. 138, Bolivar.
Her parents, husband Bill Pirkle, three sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her four sons, Joe Pirkle, Charles Pirkle and his wife, Nancy, all of Overland Park, Kan., John Pirkle and his wife, Donita, and Mark Pirkle and his wife, Cassie, all of Bolivar; five granddaughters, Alexandra, Sarah, Lauren, Andrea and Samantha Pirkle; and one grandson, William Colfax "Cole" Pirkle.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Pitts Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Homes, Bolivar, with the Rev. Harold Hendrickson officiating.
Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield. Pallbearers were Joe, Charles, John, Mark and Cole Pirkle.
