Chelan - Wilma K. Mayer, 91, a fifty-five year resident of Chelan, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital.
She was born April 25, 1915, at Douglas, the daughter of Peter and Alvina (Thom) Brandt. She attended a country school there.
On May 2, 1935, she was married to Frank Mayer at Wenatchee.
Following their marriage, they resided at Azwell before moving to Chelan in 1950. Wilma was active in the orchard business with her husband for many years. She was also seasonally employed at Blue Chelan, Inc. for many years until her retirement in 1985.
Her husband preceded her in death in March 1972. Wilma was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Chelan Eagles, the Grange, Senior Social Club and the Hobbie Club. She enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching the Mariners, crocheting, knitting and playing pinochle.
Survivors include two sons, Rudy (Linda) Mayer and Paul (Dona) Mayer, both of Chelan; her daughter, Maria Wason (Buddy) of Chelan; her sisters, Minnie Korman of Everett, Emma Fleisher of Wenatchee and Louise Roberts of Coulee City; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother; five sisters; and one granddaughter, Melinda Mayer.
Services will be conducted Saturday, August 26, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Rev. Melinda St. Claire officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Chelan Senior Center, P.O. Box 1081, Chelan, WA 98816. Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
