Alice Horner's note: There are two online obituaries for Alva R. Adleman. Both are from January 11, 1915, and give her death date as the previous date, January 10, 1915. Both state that her parents' names were Mr. And Mrs. Emery Adleman. Both are available through Newspapers.com.

The obituary in the Freeport Daily Bulletin, published in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois on January 11, 1915 gives her name as Alva R. Adleman and has the headline: Year-Old Child Dies. However, it gives her date of birth as January 21, 1913, making her almost 2 years old. This obituary states that she was buried in Freeport City Cemetery.

Her obituary in the Freeport Journal Standard's January 11, 1915 edition give her name as Alva Adleman and state that she was born January 21, 1914. This obituary is cut off with the words "Funeral will be made in the..." and the sentence is not completed elsewhere on the page. So there is no indication where she was buried. Besides the obituary in the Freeport Daily Bulletin, I found confirmation that she is buried in Freeport at least, if not which cemeter (City Cemetery or Oakland) from a notes of the day announcement that Mr. & Mrs. W. R. Schramm had attended her funeral in Freeport.

I have no idea which date of birth is correct, or perhaps neither date is correct. Both obituaries state that she was survived by her parents, and her sister Alice. I show Alice Adleman was born October 12, 1911, a date which will not conflict with either a 1913 or a 1914 date of birth for Alva.

Please contact me if you have proof of a correct date of birth.
