"Jane Dundas, who was born April 4,1774, and died November 17, 1809, married,
July 13, 1793, Marks John Biddle, son of James and Frances (nee Marks) Biddle and a member of the well-known family of that name so conspicuously identified with the history of Philadelphia. Mr. Biddle, who was born May 24, 1765, and died
in 1849, was admitted to the Philadelphia bar in October, 1789, but practiced his profession chiefly in Reading, where he had his home. He served in the State Senate, was Prothonotary and sat on the bench as President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.
"To them seven children were born, to wit: James Dundas, Hannah Dundas,
Frances Dundas, Lydia, Elizabeth Eckert, Jane and Ann.**The only son, James Dundas Biddle,married Frances Wood and had issue, but has no living representatives bearing the Biddle name, the late John C. Mercer Biddle having been the last survivor."Hannah Dundas Biddle became the wife, first of Jonathan D. Good and, secondly, of Abraham Adams. She had issue by her first husband only."Frances Dundas Biddle married Joseph Rayner Priestley, grandson of the celebrated Dr. Joseph Priestley; and to them were born ten children of whom five married, the only survivor being Mrs. Henry Toulmin, 2231 Sycamore street, Birmingham, Ala. The present representatives of this line, of the next generation, are as follows: Misses Jean Biddle Priestley and Anne Priestley and Mrs. Haskett D. Catlin, Northumberland; Dr. James T. Priestley, Des Moines; Mrs. Augustus Sterns,
Williamsport; Priestley Toulmin, 2241 Sycamore street, Birmingham, Ala. ; Dr. Harry Toulmin, and Miss Martian Priestley Toulmin, Lancaster Pike, Haverford, and
Joseph Priestley Button, Upsal street, west, Germantown.st,"Lydia Biddle became the wife of David Francis Gordon, Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Berks county. Two children of the latter survive, the Misses Elizabeth F. and Clara Gordon, the Waynewood, Wayne. The late Mrs. J. Brinton White, whose husband lives at the Coronado. was also a daughter. The surviving children of Mrs. White are: Mrs. Duane Williams, who lives abroad; Mrs. Alexander Brown Coxe, Nawbeek, Paoli; William White, Jr., 1825 DeLancey Place; Mrs. Daniel Coxe; Mrs. Charles Edmund Coxe, Willisbrook Farm, St. Davids, and Mrs.Charles Wellford Leavitt, Meadow Farm, Hartsdale, New York "Elizabeth Eckert Biddle married Edward Anderson, and they had issue three sons.
