Illinois marriage license gives her maiden name as Peach. A number of Illinois researchers list her as being a daughter of Charles Brown Darrow, but this is not possible because of another daughter of C.B. Darrow being born 4 months away from Emaline. William Peach seems to be her only possible father, with Sarah Pearce Peach being her mother. After William died, Sarah Pearce Peach then married the Rev. Zadock Darrow. Perhaps that is how Emaline ended up being thought of as a Darrow?

She was baptized at Rock Spring Baptist Church on 19 Nov 1837; letter of dismissal Dec. 31, 1839. In 1870 Federal Census of Lebanon P.O., T2n R6W, p. 132, the family is listed as Ross, D. W., 40 (TN), Alvina 35 (TN), Henry 25 (IL), Wm. 15 (IL), Carry 12 (IL), Joseph 10 (IL), and Amanda 5 (IL). In 1880 Federal Census of O'Fallon township, T2N R7W, Emeline Ross is listed as age 58, living with Henry (Charles H.?) age 40, William M. 25, Carrie A. 22, Joseph 19, and Alice 15.

Her husband, William D. Ross, is listed in the 1860 census as from KY. His name appears in both the Rock Spring Baptist Church and the Oak Hill Baptist Church minutes. He also is listed as a minister in the Oak Hill church minutes. He reportedly died 18 Nov. 1876.
