From the Reese River Reveille, 19 Mar 1867:
SUDDEN DEATH - The community was startled this morning on learning the sudden death of Mrs. Hulbard - the young and amiable wide of Mr. M. O. Hulbard, one of the proprietors of the Savage Mine. A lady friend called at their home about nine o'clock, and upon entering the parlour observed Mrs Hulbard reclining of the sofa and on going to her was inexpressibly shocked at the discovery that she was dead. She was dressed as she was the previous evening when she visited the family of Dr. Chamblin, whose house she left for home about half past nine o'clock. When she was discovered this morning she had one shoe off, but had apparently made no other preparations for bed, and the door of the house was unlocked. It would appear from the circumstances that the young lady must have died suddenly last evening shortly after her return home. Her husband is absent in the States. The melancholy death of Mrs Hulbard will cause general mourning, for she was widely known and beloved for her sprightly intelligence and sweet disposition.
