Helen Jean Maring, 95, of Ottumwa, died at 1:35 p.m. July 7, 2022 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. She was born January 30, 1927 in Centerville, IA to Walter and Margherite Brain Bailey. Helen married John H. Maring on October 26, 1958 and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2000.

A 1944 graduate of Centerville High School, she had worked at Hercules Mfg. Company, Appanoose County Telephone Company and Fuller Manufacturing Company all in Centerville. Helen worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 31 years, retiring as supervisor of office services. She was a member of First Christian Church in Ottumwa, P.E.O. Chapter HR, served 23 years on the Salvation Army Advisory Board, a member of the Chamber of Commerce Women's Division, a member of National Secretaries Association and John Deere Office Retired Women.

She is survived by four nieces, four cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles R. Bailey.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sneller officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family.
