SAVANNAH - Gladys Jackson Perkins, 91, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Savannah Specialty Health Care Center, which coincided with her 74th Wedding Anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, E. W. Perkins; son in law, Leonard "Buddy" Beach; and grandchildren, Becky and David Beach.
She was a native of Bulloch County and lived in Savannah most of her life. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple, a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class, a member of the Citadel Choir and the WMU and a past member of the Rebekkah Chapter of the Odd Fellows of America. She was employed in sales for nearly forty years in establishments on Broughton Street and retired from Levy's Department Store in 1979 after twenty five years of service. She loved fashion and was always dressed in the latest style. She enjoyed cooking and having her devoted family together. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by two daughters, Berniece P. Beach of Savannah and Shirley Berger (Charles) of Charleston, SC; a sister, Mrs. Daisy McKenzie of Savannah; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, with Dr. James Staubes, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
