Died-At the residence of his son Jerry Despain, in Pendleton, on Tuesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, Benjamin F. Despain, aged 84 years, 3 months, and 17 days.

Mr. Despain was born in Green county, Kentucky, where he lived til mature manhood, when he removed to Illinois. He remained a resident of that state for twenty years, coming to Oregon in 1854, and settling in the vicinity of Eugene City. He came to Umatilla county about fifteen years ago, where he has lived ever since, known and beloved by his fellowmen. Extreme age was the cause of his death, which has been expected for some weeks. Through life he has been a true man, of exemplary habits. His name will be remembered by many for years to come.
