Virginia Buchanan Reed Lucas, 94, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Autumn Care of Drexel following a period of declining health.
Virginia was born December 10, 1927 in Avery County to the late Fonzer Buchanan and Bertie Franklin Buchanan. She was very devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to her church, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Mack Reed and Chester Lucas; son, Ernie Reed; and numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Propst and husband Wayne of Morganton, Elbert Reed of Charlotte, Danny Reed and wife Judy of Morganton, Debbie McCurry and husband Jerry of Morganton, and Kenny Reed and wife Donna of Morganton; and stepdaughters, Frances Baker and Ruth Helton. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM at First Apostolic Church of Morganton with Pastor David Bridges, Rev. Darrell Propst, and Bishop Alvin Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Reed Memorial Cemetery.
