She was the oldest of seven children born to Henri Joseph and Yvonne (Gauthier) Martineau of Massachusetts. As a child, she lived on a lake. She enjoyed water skiing and ice skating, and was an accomplished diver. As a young woman, she won ballroom dancing contests. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roland Fredette; son, Paul Roland Fredette; daughter, Michelle Fredette; brothers, Emile Martineau, Paul Martineau, and Rene Joseph Martineau*; and sisters, Flora Fredette and Julie Brunelle**. Surviving are her children, Denise Dale (James), Joseph Fradet (Ana Liza), Henry Fredette (Rosilene), Renee Skidmore (Tim), Roland Fredette (Cathy), and Paul George (Linda) Fredette; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, André Martineau and Diane Brunelle - both of New Hampshire, and Jeanne Lemieux of Massachusetts.
