Raymond G. Jacobson went to be with the Lord Nov. 8, surrounded by his family.
He was married 65 years to his loving wife, Ramona Burt Jacobson.
Raymond was born in Chelan Falls, Wash. to Walter and Belle Jacobson. He was their first born.
He graduated from Stanwood High School and joined the Merchant Marines. Two years later he was drafted into the U.S. Army.
Raymond spent many years driving truck. He drove for Howard Graft Honey Company, Carol Mill, Sedro Woolley, Skagit Valley Trucking and Silver Bow Honey.
Working with his father was a big part of his life.
In 1967 Ray and Mona bought Camano Drive Inn on Camano Island. Ray helped Mona by being the head chef, "feeding everyone like a truck driver."
He drove school bus for Stanwood schools and upon selling the drive-in Ray went to work for Twin City Foods driving truck.
He was finally able to be home in the evenings (for the most part) playing music with Mona on weekends.
At age 58, Raymond had a stroke. This put Ray into early retirement. Mona and Ray went through many years of rehabilitation but he was able to start driving again. "You could not get this strong Norwegian to sit still."
He had many years of playing classic country music, fishing, camping and loving his four children.
Ray painted saws and for the last 20 years went to many log shows.
He is survived by his wife Mona; children Wade (Cheryl) Jacobson, Mark (Kim) Jacobson, Susie (Richard) Tanck and Jean (Dan) Crookes; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ray knew every road on the map, the west side of the United States. He was always giving directions - several to one destination.
He loved and was so proud of each and every one of his children, grandchildren, great- and the great-greats.
Ray was a very strong, loyal, loving and honest man. He will be singing in heaven to his father Walter, mother Belle, sister Mavis and all the great-grandparents.
