May 1, 1933 - Nov. 21, 2015 Betty Jane Furtick Blaising, 82, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2015. She was at her home in Hoover, AL surrounded by her husband and children. Betty Blaising was born May 1, 1933. She grew up in St. Matthews, South Carolina and married Richard Blaising on July 3, 1952 in Charleston, South Carolina. They began their family in Charleston and then moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1965 where she lived out the remainder of her life. Betty's life was devoted to raising her seven children. She enjoyed the outdoors, flowers, the beach and a good game of Scrabble. Her passion was reading the Bible and sharing Jesus with others. She was preceded in death by her father, Artie Clifton Furtick Sr., her mother, Zeelie Minnie Belle Furtick (Townsend), her daughter, Cynthia Roxanne Blaising, and her daughter-in-law, Lee LaSuer Blaising. She is survived by her spouse, Richard Keith Blaising, her children and spouses: Richard Harry Blaising (Shellee), Charlot Blaising Denny (Gene), Tammy Blaising Nicholson (Gilbert), William Ross Blaising (Julie), Jennie Keith Bachofer, John Artie "Sonny" Blaising (Debi), Mark Andrew Blaising, Angie Buchanan Blaising, her 29 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother, Artie Clifton Furtick, Jr. (Rose) and sisters, Mary Ella Brokaw and Emily Ann Harnett (James). Her legacy of love will continue to multiply. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 24 at Shades Mountain Independent Church. Visitation beginning at 10am with funeral at 12:30. Graveside to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South. (Hwy 150).
