Mrs. Virginia Carolyn Bullard, 79, died Thursday evening (June 30, 2022) at Memorial Satilla Health after a brief illness.
Carolyn was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. She graduated from Waycross High School in 1961, and was a member of Crawford Street Baptist Church. She was first employed by Swisher International as a cigar roller for around ten years, and then went back to school and became an LPN. Carolyn worked at Waycross Internal Medicine (Packer Diagnostic) for many years before leaving to return to Swisher International as the night shift nurse until her retirement.
Mrs. Bullard was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin James Strickland and Addie Strickland; her husband, Oscar Wayne Bullard; and three sisters, Frances Strickland, Beatrice Allen and Jean Pope.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Herndon (Phillip) of Dixie Union, and Beth Gibson (Randy) of Waycross; four grandchildren, Joshua Herndon, Ashley Turner, Clayton Herndon (Ashley) and Emily Ray (Tyler); three great grandchildren, Ashton Herndon, Silas Herndon and Everleigh Ray; one sister, Barbara Bowen of Alston, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (July 2, 2022) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
